Design ChallengeThe client's desire in terms of the design was clear: to "erase the boundary between the interior space of the existing living room, a small yard between the existing house and the river, and the river itself". Design SolutionThe solution was to create a negative-edge (glass) pool looking out over the river, but, moreover, to flood the entire yard and have the gathering areas become islands that are connected with changeable, lightweight aluminum walkways. To complement the extensive use of water and glass, the design incorporates materials that offer a sensual experience (varying textures of granite, textile privacy screens, and still-water lighting). |
